We are looking for our union’s strongest and most committed female members to help light a fire under our Sisters in the Brotherhood Program.
Do you enjoy working with your hands?
Are you up for a rewarding challenge?
Do you have a can-do attitude?
Every day, thousands of women play a critical role in making the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America the best union in North America.
It is no different for us, Central South women are in every area of the trade and the union: as foremen, superintendents and lead instructors; on the staff of Councils and locals; and, of course, on jobsites—as carpenters on all kinds of projects, scaffolders, pile drivers, floor layers, and mill-cab and industrial workers.
Sisters are indeed helping to build Today’s UBC.
Sisters in the Brotherhood supports female members by providing assistance in obtaining craft training and leadership skills; by being advocates on women issues; and by mentoring new members and even potential members.
SIB conferences offer opportunities to network and participate in workshops that expose women to UBC history and develop skills to become more active within the union. SIB events, meetings, and resources, both local and online, offer substantive support for women members in every Council.
“THIS UNION HAS ALWAYS STOOD FOR FAIRNESS AND THE RIGHTS OF ALL WORKERS.”
— Douglas J. McCarron
UBC General President
From delivering high-quality performance to supporting Union causes, Sisters in the Brotherhood makes contributions that help build a better trade and a stronger UBC:
We attend Union meetings and serve as Council delegates, offering input on issues that affect women, men, and the UBC.
We support community activities as a way to promote a positive image of the Union, the UBC, and Union workers.
We serve on political action committees and support UBC positions at rallies and campaign events.
We help organize workers, recruit members, and provide input on the establishment of apprentice programs.
We provide new members with guidance on ways to succeed on the job and with advice on how to become valued UBC members.
The first step is letting us know you’re ready to be part of the solution. > Click here to join today!
