INSTALL Floorcovering Program Ready to Roll in Texas
9/15/2015

Elite Flooring Installation Labor Program Launches in Arlington

When it comes to growth in the U.S. construction industry, it doesn’t get any better than Texas. And while growth brings opportunity, it can also present challenges. Skilled labor is an ever-growing demand to meet the needs of aggressive construction schedules and increased diversity, safety and environmental requirements.

To address this issue for the floorcovering sector, the Central South Carpenters Regional Council is leveraging its affiliation with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) to access an elite floorcovering training and certification program called INSTALL.

INSTALL is an accomplished and proven North American alliance of flooring manufacturers, contractors and UBC installers. Through training and certification, the program directly combats the skilled labor shortfall by developing, training and certifying new installers. Content is continuously reviewed by technical experts from partnering mills and manufactures, making it the most endorsed and recommended training program in the industry.

The INSTALL program is now available in Texas for contractors and customers who partner with the Central South Carpenters. To illustrate what an asset this program is, an open house and rollout event was recently held at the North Texas Training Center in Arlington.

Several area flooring contractors and representatives from Ardex, Armstrong Flooring, Gerflor, HB Fuller, HP Schonox, Halex, Mohawk, nora, Shaw and Tarkett/Johnsonite attended. Also attending and speaking was Tony Troehler with Mr. David’s Flooring SE, LLC.

Their experience included a tour of the training facility, an overview of the INSTALL program, and one-on-one time with the international program’s leadership and local business representatives of the Central South Carpenters to have individual questions fielded.

“Texas is the most vibrant market in the country,” said John McGrath, executive director of INSTALL.

“We want to get those workers trained and certified so that they can deliver quality commercial flooring installations to the Texas market.”
