Leaders from labor and management collaborate on training plans for nuclear scaffolders

Carpenters, Contractor, & Customer Team for Innovative Scaffold Training in Texas

Great things happen when we collaborate with our partners for the betterment of the Texas construction industry! Recently, leaders from signatory contractor†Day & Zimmerman†and the†South Texas Project†(STP) Nuclear Power Plant Project†visited the Houston Training Center to discuss a project involving scaffold training in preparation for the 2021 outage season.

D&Z and STP are partnering with the Houston Training Center to provide NANTeL Training for union members who are new to nuclear scaffold building. The D&Z and STP team will be at the Houston Training Center in early December to give an orientation session for the new scaffolders, with the actual training taking place in January.

Those coordinating the project include collaborative team members Scott Mackebon and James McDonald from D&Z; Central South Carpentersís Houston Local 551 Council Representative Kenneth Fontenot; David Barron, Director of Carpenter Training for the UBC Gulf Coast Carpenters and Millwrights Training Trust Fund; and Scott Stinson and Fred Sutter with the South Texas Project Processing Department.
