Local 1266 interior systems mechanics at the Jan. 29 meeting

Austin Interior Systems Carpenters Gather to Interact, Network, and Compare Circumstances
2/7/2019

For 138 years, the carpenters union has protected worker rights by fighting for equality in pay, safe working conditions, shorter work day, healthcare benefits and a dignified retirement for middle-class workers. That type of attention was on display recently in Austin, when union and non-union carpenters gathered at two worker meetings to discuss the Austin interior systems market.

The two meetings - held January 29 and 31 - were the first of many meetings where all Austin Interior Systems carpenters (union and nonunion alike) are invited to come and share their ideas, suggestions, concerns and comments about working conditions.

“We’ve talked with real workers at real job sites and, beyond a shadow of a doubt - now is the time to join together, to unify, and to create better working and paying conditions for the Austin Interior Systems carpenter,” said Alex Ornelas, Austin area manager for the Central South Carpenters Regional Council.

The next Austin Carpenters Worker Meeting is Thursday, February 28 at 5 p.m.  Now is the time to join with hundreds of other ATX carpenters who know, with unity, you will create a better life for you, your family and your community! We will have food and drink for all guests! Families are welcome and encouraged to attend this community event!
